HIELO EN MARTE!
La NASA anunció el hallazgo de agua en Marte, gracias al explorador Mars Phoenix Lander.
Las fotografías capturadas en Marte establecen el debate sobre el origen de esta sustancia o material blanco capturado en las fotos enviadas por el artefacto.
Como se muestra en la imagen, un trozo de hielo cambia directamente de solido a un estado gaseoso en el transcurso de 4 días, luego de ser expuesto tras la excavación del explorador Mars Phoenix.
"It must be ice," dijo el investigador Peter Smith. "These little clumps completely disappearing over the course of a few days, that is perfect evidence that it's ice."
La confirmación de la existencia de agua en esa área circundada por el lander es una muy buena y gran noticia para esta misión en Marte.
La misión fundamnetal de la NASA era encontrar exactamnete esto -- water ice -- para luego analizarla.
Esta es la unica oportunidad que tiene la humanidad de analizar agua extraterrestre en cualquier forma.
"Are you ready to celebrate? Well, get ready: We have ICE!!!!! Yes, ICE, *WATER ICE* on Mars! w00t!!! Best day ever!!" the Mars Phoenix Lander tweeted at about 5:15 pm.
Their suspicions about water ice beneath the surface of Mars confirmed, scientists and the world will have renewed interest in the outcome of the soil analyses currently being conducted by the lander.
The samples are being examined for traces of organic molecules, among other substances, but the lander does not have instruments that could directly detect life.
